Holtville, California - The Holtville Athletic Club and KYMA News Channel 11 have partnered to hold an impromptu fund raising effort to benefit the American Red Cross Imperial Valley Service Center. Financial donations will be accepted by the American Red Cross from 11:00am – 7:00pm Friday – November 2nd at the Holtville Athletic Club (located at the Northeast corner of Highway 115 & Zenos Road).
The Holtville Athletic Club will also be serving BBQ dinners from 4:30 – 6:30 where 100% of all proceeds will go directly to the Red Cross. The Red Cross will have emergency preparedness information and products available for purchase during the event. Many athletic club members remember the last major earthquake that hit Imperial Valley and the devastation it left behind, the club itself sits in very close proximity to a fault. A nameless club member stated, “ We all know another major disaster will hit Imperial Valley, but we don’t know when. This is our effort to help everyone get prepared for when disaster strikes.
The San Diego wildfires serve as strong reminder that the San Diego/Imperial Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross always be prepared to support our communities in the event of a disaster. The Athletic Club & KYMA’s Brad Wills want to encourage all organizations, businesses, and individuals to join them in this effort. “Together we can save a life”. Brad will be on hand broadcasting live during the BBQ.
