Washington, DC - Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar, joined by Congressman Raul Grijalva, will provided welcoming remarks last evening at a reception for an exhibition opening at the Interior Museum. The Udall Foundation exhibition, Parks in Focus: Connecting Underserved Youth to Nature through Photography, will be open to the public from 8:30 to 4:30 on weekdays through December.

About Parks in Focus: For 10 years, the Morris K. Udall Foundation has introduced middle school students, from Boys & Girls Clubs allover the nation, to the wonders nature. The Parks in Focus program connects middle-school children to nature through week-long trips to state and national parks. Learning the fundamentals of photography, ecology, and conservation adds to students’ continuing engagement with nature. The Foundation provides cameras and teaches that nature is accessible, fun, and educational. Included in the exhibit are photographs taken by participants visiting Arizona, Maine, Michigan, New Jersey, Wyoming, and California in 2007 and 2008.

About the Interior Museum: The Interior Museum interprets the history of the U.S. Department of the Interior and promotes the current work of the bureaus. It is located on the first floor of the Main Interior Building at 1849 C Street, NW between 18th and 19th Streets. The museum is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm and from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on the third Saturday of each month, except for all Federal holidays.
