| Laredo Border Patrol Agents Intercept More than Just Car Parts |

Laredo, Texas - Border Patrol agents from the Laredo North station seized a large load of marijuana early Monday morning.
Agents working at the IH-35 checkpoint were conducting an immigration inspection at primary of a driver of a 2000 Freightliner tractor-trailer when a Border Patrol canine alerted to the rear portion of the trailer indicating the presence of hidden contraband or people. The tractor-trailer was referred to secondary for a more thorough inspection of the trailer. Inside the trailer, agents discovered several large cellophane-wrapped bundles of marijuana mixed- in with a legitimate shipment of automotive parts. The bundles contained a total of 2,088 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of over $1.6 million.
The driver, tractor-trailer and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
